About MASTER

Is it possible to observe the difference between a beginner and a Master in painting? This question seems to be unsolvable today. We are living in a time, where everyone, trained or untrained, can declare to be a painter. In the last century the possibility of jugement considering the value of art products presented to the public has been almost destroyed. Today we have on one side the painting poeple, who though orientationless try to be accepted as professional and on the other side the common folk, who is educationless in the mater, but feels obliged to give attention to the products offered by these, who are called painters and "masters". With the beginn of the so called Abstraction the possibility of jugement in Art has been dislocated.
The world of Art was open for important researchs but although for many kind of farces. It became at example possible to exhibite not more than pure materials: white with acryl color sprayed panels / black with acryl color sprayed panels and similar objects adding nice titles or textes to catch the attention of the public. The next step arrived soon: it is the so called "installation", in which the absurdity becomes the methode and where the common field of painting is completely abandoned.
But for those who remain in the field of 2 dimentional creations using the medium of colors, a kind of hierarchy order appears through there results. The hierachy which has been already clearly felt in the classic of painting.
Artistic process can only beginn in the expression of a more or less wild impuls, grasping some available material. Danger at this very step is the chaos, caused by the play of a dreamy consciousness. But everyone is at the beginning of an artistic work that kind of childish dreamer, so that the step of chaos could be consider as a necessity. In the next steps this has to be overcome by introducing some form elements, limits, contrasts etc, connected with a more clear consciousness of a goal. The work becomes older, ripe, achieving a step of balance between dynamic and form, life and death. The forces of formation must be brought by a superior consciousness. The more the artist is experienced the more he will be capable to reach a ripe finishing of his work.
At the end of this creation there is the Master level. Between Beginner (that is of course everyone) and Master we can distinguish many different levels, which depend of the ability of self criticism . Who is
the best critic of himself could become a Teacher and Master. For every artistic process the ladder from Beginner to Master must be climbed. But at the end the real feeling remains as a question: is that unfinished or is it still a master piece?

Dear Students of the Color Meditation School !

The activity of painting is more as an entertainment, though it could give you much fun, making you laughing about your one products if you have the right humor.
If you train your body you get strong muscles but oneday they will desapear. If you train your soul by doing art you build something for the eternity. Therefore it is important for the health of your soul, that you train and learn consistently. In painting weekly you will first try to copy the teacher following his advice. But -second- you can also try to change some element of the exercice offered. You will then discover why your teacher has chosen just the proposed colors and composition. If you cannot feel that, please ask him.
Keep your soul in efforts and motions. A vivid process of researching and learning is a true healing power. It makes your soul growing, breathing and your spirit young.

Dear Students,

Color Meditation School is based on the colorknot, which is in one sense the goal that sends its light through all the steps.
Therefore all are balance-exercises and colorsound-erxercises related to the position of the colors in the colorknot.
With Step 3 you are introduced in the secret of totality, that is the real nature and the low of any color circle.
Colors as a unique community!
You can although discover this low as a kind of appeal in every picture.
Each image is related to the individuality of man, is unique.
The word "Individual" means "cannot be divided", it allways remains to be a unity!
But this appeal of color totality could become a danger, if you beginn to introduce too many colors in your work. In the training we allways choose consequently few colors in each step.
Our School of Color Meditation wants to be a training for free painting, so that you could consider the colorknot as a door to freedom.
Of course there will be more to learn beyond this threshold, because your one completion will be by developping a perfect sense for the inner lows of pictures.
This last step could be teached in life seminars or in private lessons in my studio or where ever you wish.

All the best for 2013 and gambate!

COLOR MEDITATION SCHOOL

Dear Students

today it seems to me necessary to treat a very practical question, that gives the most difficulties to you.

The painting methode, that we recommended in this School, is the so called wet on wet watercolor painting.
The main painting problems can in reallity be reduced to one question: how could the humidity on the paper be mastered?

1/ You first wet the paper and stretch it on the board. It must be done on both sides,so that no air,no bubbels
are resting under the working surface. But although no water spots emerging on it.

2/ If you are fast in sprading out the paint, so you can use a strong concentration of it to obtain although a soft color.

3/ If you are more hesitating in your doing, so please use a more thin concentration ...but you will soon meet the danger to accumulate water over water on your paper. The water will become eventually the real painter and transport arbitrary the color by itself, so that you will stop to be the "master"in your work !

4/ In this second case, please continue painting at another place of the picture, till you have grasped again all the surface, make eventually a smal pause and continue by increasing step by step the intensity (concentration) of the paint, till
you reach the wished strongness.

5/ While working at a smal detail, it happens often, that you totally forget its surroundings. This detail receives more and more watery paint and the milieu becomes dry. After a short moment, you will wonder how the last used paint spread out into the dry parts probably agains your one will. In such a case the only help is to referesh the surroundings, giving to it
a similar grade of humidity as to the detail.

Never give up to become the real Master in technical things.

With my best greetings.

Dear students,

Today, I would like to introduce about my painting work.

Painting is some work, that I separate radically from drawing, which is a question of producing forms.
Each painting is an experiment with colors, to make colors moving, living and giving birth to a motiv.
Therfore I beginn in choosing 2 or 3 colors, being perhaps just fascinated by their sound.
Eventually others will be introduced later....which could be simply the effect of their meeting and mixing each other.
At the meeting place of the original colors some concentration appears, which give birth to a form
element or a form "possibility". My task is to accept or to refuse this possibility in the process of creation.
This painting consists in a series of decisions, which demand courage. A courage that grows with the creating work.
Slowly, step by step, the colors get intensity and the picture let appear forms.
Than I try to stop the process at the right moment. But what is the right moment?
The observer of this work has to be involve in the process, not as a consumer but as a co-worker and co-creator.
This purpose give me a mesure for the right moment. That is the point, at which the picture is no more a simple
entertainment (a decorativ color sound) but offers the possibility to imagine something. It becomes an invitation to activity of the soul.
Is the motiv very clear and exact formed, so the observer's activity will desappear very fast. He will be satisfied to recognize
a wellknown object (flower or landscape or animal etc.) and will turn away his attention and co-operation.
This purpose give to my paintings their special characteristic: they seem to be not full accomplished. They are only finished, if they awake a question and research in the soul of their visitors!

Dear students,

The world of Light and Darkness (at example: Black and White) is a world of refection. Working in it we realize or reflect our mental images, our thoughts.
Colors are different. They express HOW Light works with the Darkness, expending, desiring, yearning. Either the Light overcoms the Darkness (Yellow)
or the Darkness makes it to its prisoner (Blue). Goethe resumed this fact in the wonderful sentence: "Colors are deeds and pains of the light".
In the Black and White Art we can have a more intellectual satisfaction, but in the world of colors our soul has to engage, has to react with emotions.

Dear students,

The first step of a colour meditation is related to the fact explained just before.
It is the choice of a color, that you introduce slowly, with progressing intensity in your consciousness.
Therefore the importance of a painting method like watercolour painting. It enables you to begin with a very soft and diluted intensity.
You introduce in the space of your soul (that is of course the white paper!) a foreign will and you let it
grow by raising its intensity. A kind of pure "fight" appears, because the chosen color expresses its tendency, its willing nature, if you don't destroy this by fixing some goal of work.
If you namely make the colour immediately to the servant of your thinking, then it cannot reveal its real being.
You have now in this beginning of meditation to follow the process that invite you to go a way, that you never experienced or thought of before.

Dear students,

today we want to go on with our efforts of understanding concerning the question "what means meditation"!
In our common experience of the world our thinking is very much connected to our perception. Hearing a word or seeing a picture
we immediately build an inner image (also called mental image), which get added in our consciousness to the perceived image.
This uses to happen of course on the basis of our previous experiences, of our memory. Therefore Rudolf Steiner said: the perception
is not finished, it is not all the realität, it is like a question that needs the complementary element, the answer of our soul.
BUT this process uses to happen very automatically like a mechanism, so that we are not aware of our "thinking contribution" to the
reality.
That is the big illusion due to the power of the perceptions: they entertain our soul with the overpowering effect, that has been developped
further on in the television and in all other media.
An old german song says: "look where is nothing to be seen, because there God could be found, there is God." It means: if you keep your
sight activity but renounce to have a perception, then you have a pure spiritual experience.
Meditation is such an experience of God because we work with a sentence, a word, that doesn't have the common power of other perceptions.
It cannot be fixed and understand immediatly. In this way we can experience the pure willing and the pure thinking of our soul.

Dear Students,

After having try to clear up the question what is a color meditation, I would like today in a further step to ask you, although of course asking me, why should we meditate? Meditation is either a social duty nor an economical necessity, but for you as a meditating person it could be a tool for health. It could become something, that you don’t want to miss because its brings you to your balance.
This aspect of meditation has been recognized and developed in the modern Yoga, with the tendency to make it a kind of sport. Of course meditation is although a training…..but it is much more as a sport.
It is preparing your soul to receive a spiritual message, it is previous work toward inspiration and intuition.
Colour meditation help to prepare yourself for receiving the right ideas while painting.
Therefore gambate

Dear Students
Today is the moment to speak about: What is a meditation? and why do we call our school:color meditation school?
A meditation is in the modern sense of this world a deed of our personal will. We have to push far from our consciousness all perceptions and concentrate it on some picture or some words. They bring us over the threshold to an other world, transforming our consciousness.
If this will is not personal, if it is borrowed by some guru, we will be lost in the foreign world because our ego did'nt develop by himself its own wings, before entering the spiritual world.
In our case, we use the colors and their life as a threshold, as an meditations word and we have to fortify our will in concentrating on the exercise.
It is always very common to find a reason, not to persist: surroundings is too loudly, or my health is damaged or I have no more time..... But the will can only grow by overcoming these so called "reasons". They are all in reality pretexts!
Meditations are the most free deeds, that we can achieve. And only free personalities are successful in their life.
Therefore I wish you today to be strong: gambate kudasai!

Today, I would like to explain more the background of my teaching to you.
All that, what is called drawing or painting nowadays, could be a very painful experience
for an artistic soul. It mostly (99%) consists in limiting the white surface with a black line, than filling the inner part of the so called drawing with any kind of colour and any kind of medium ( water colour, acrylic colour, oil colour and so on.) The form has been fixed as a primary element and becomes the prison of something superficial and unlikely treated that we call colour.
Out of this suffering situation, overcoming the pain, we try in our school to do just the contrary. We learn to observe how the different colours work and how they create by themselves the limits that invite our fantasy by making forms. We want to develop a method which is giving to colours the biggest value.
Form has to become the result, the work of the colours, that has been chosen.
Best greetings to you!
