ニュートンとゲーテ
ゲーテより一世紀以上前に、アイザック・ニュートンも色環を思いつきました。その図は、プリズムの実験を通して彼が観察した色彩の物理的な側面を物語るものでした（図2）。
ニュートンの色環では、プリズムの観察に基づく、より厳密な配置で色が並んでいます。色たちを平等の存在として取り上げたゲーテとは、大変異なります。
Newton and Goethe
More as one century before Goethe, Isaac Newton conceived a color circle, which was illustrating the physical aspects of the colors observed by him in his prism experiments.(fig. 2) In his circle the colors has a more mathematical position depending of their appearance in the prism observation.
Very different by Goethe, who treated them as equal beings.
